Summer vacation is finally here!
When you ride the Shinkansen, you have to get an ekiben, right?
Today’s pick — salmon and ikura from Sanriku, with plenty of juicy roe!
On the side, we’ve got pink kamaboko, fluffy tamagoyaki, and sweet simmered shiitake mushrooms.

    When I visited last year and took the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto I got an Autumn themed Ekiben with nine little compartments and I still think about it all the time.

    Tamagoyaki is one of my favorite things ever and it’s not common for Japanese restaurants to have it where I live 😭
