Vietnamese Street Food – Grilled Scallops Recipe
The streets of Vietnam are filled with the smell of charcoal and great meats, but one of my top faves are the garlicky grilled scallops. 🤤
Ingredients:
12 Fresh scallops in the shell (cleaned)
2 tbsp neutral oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 stalks green onion, finely chopped
1/2 tbsp grated ginger
1 tsp chicken bouillon powder
For Garnish after Grilling:
Crushed roasted peanuts
Crispy shallots
Sweet-Sour-Spicy Fish Sauce (nước chấm):
3 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp lime juice
1 tbsp water
1 bird’s eye chili, minced
1 garlic clove, minced
Instructions
Heat oil until shimmering, then pour over the garlic, green onion, ginger, and bouillon in a heatproof bowl. Stir and set aside.
Spoon the hot oil mixture over each scallop.
Grill scallops over charcoal until just cooked and lightly charred—about 3-4 minutes (also depends on the size of the scallops).
Drizzle with nước chấm, then top with crushed peanuts and crispy shallots.
Serve immediately—preferably with fingers and a cold drink (beer).

let’s make some Vietnamese grilled scallops And remember they’re way cheaper at Asian markets In Vietnam this is a very popular street food and you can make it at home too All you have to do is finally dice up some ginger garlic and green onions and then add this to a bowl and mix it with some chicken buon powder Then just add some really hot oil and mix it all together And trust me this stuff is like crack All that’s left to do is to add a little on each scallop and then grill them over some hot charcoal for that smoky flavor I mean guys just listen to this Served with some sweet and spicy fish sauce along with crushed peanuts and crispy fried shallotss
