not a huge breakfast eater, but when I do I struggle to keep it on healthier side because I like savory not sweet. Greek Yogurt and Oatmeal are great options, but not for me. Above is two potato & egg squares with cheese to help me mask the egginess, turkey sausage and blueberries but I’d like to see if there are other better options people recommend?

I eat avocado toast with vegetables or tinned/preserved fish every morning. Or savory overnight oats.

    Shakshuka W added cannellini beans,

    bruschetta and avocado on sourdough,

Leftovers – I love a veggie bake like briam that’s been made w sweet potato and added lentils,

    Porridge,

Sliced boiled egg with avocado on ryvitas,

Loaded sweet potato with egg, avo, tomato, feta.

  3. i just ate leftover pasta for breakfast…

point is, once i stopped thinking about food being meal specific, it kinda freed me up. I’ll eat salads for breakfast sometimes.

i eat some form of oats many mornings. i can make it fast and it
keeps me satisfied for awhile. other times it will be a slice of whole wheat toast, topped with either avocado or hummus, sliced tomatoes and spinach. i’ll sprinkle some seasonings. on weekends when i have more time ill do something like an omelette with mushrooms, broccoli, feta, salsa, spinach, and any other vegetables i have. Or better yet, make a frittata, quiche, or casserole then portion/freeze for the future. i’m a big meal prep person, and most times when im actually cooking ill make huge portions so it helps me in the future. Hence my pasta i just ate lol..

White beans sautéed in spiced olive oil with an egg, served with toast and a dollop of garlic yogurt.

If you need to mask the egginess, why do you eat eggs?

I’m also a savory breakfast eater. I usually eat left over soup/stew or bean dishes. I don’t really bother worrying about “breakfast foods”. But you can add a poached egg on top of most things I eat for breakfast to make it more breakfast-y.

Leftover pasta sautéed with kimchi and eggs scrambled in. This is banging. Can add parm cheese, too.

Egg whites, avocado, homemade whole grain, tomato and feta with some olive oil. On repeat because it makes me genuinely happy each morning

I hope this doesn’t seem unhelpful, but I find that the higher quality eggs I buy, the less “egginess” they have. Cage free organic or pasture raised if I can afford it. I don’t eat eggs every day so it’s worth it for me.

I have a big spinach salad with purple cabbage, pumpkin seeds and whatever else I have to add in

Sounds like you wake up extra early to make an elaborate breakfast ?

Eta: you as in all commenters here.

When I have a savory breakfast it’s typically an egg bake with veggies and cheese in it, with whole wheat or sourdough toast. Or a breakfast burrito bowl (eggs, cheese, potatoes/sweet potatoes, beans, veggies, salsa).

    – chickpeas, arugula, cucumber with hot sauce and toast

    – sardines with pickled veg or tomato and cucumber, lemon juice, toast or a bit of brown rice/farro

    – leftover roasted sweet potato with black beans and avocado, hot sauce

I like savory oatmeal with a soft-boiled/poached egg on top. Sometimes I’ll stir in hummus into the oats, sprinkle with harissa or za’atar or something.

Been meaning to sauté some canned sardines with some tomato paste, garlic and onion on sourdough toast.

ETA – whoops sorry ignore the oats suggestion, I didn’t see you don’t like it the first read.

whole grain toast with avocado, eggs, sliced fresh tomato, and a little lemon juice, salt and pepper

?? Just eat the healthy food you like *in the morning*.

“Breakfast food” is nonsense. And in what word is sweet healthier than savory? Is your brain with us?

Arugula salad with avo, capers, shallots, smoked salmon and a lil red wine vin and olive oil and a poached or fried egg!

My breakfast pretty much every day: chia + basil seeds, hemp seeds, ground flax seeds, sprouted nuts, alternate with unsweetened soy milk and plain sheep milk yogurt. It’s surprisingly sustaining— no need for me to snack at all prior to lunch, and I’m on my feet at work all day. Highly recommend!

  19. NoNoNeverNoNo

Eggs with spinach, mushroom and feta cheese, avocado on the side

I rotate a few things when i have time. Greek yogurt 🙂 I always top it with chia or flax, some sort of berry. Occasionally i will have eggs mixed with greens, onions, garlic and some feta with a sprinkle of salt free lemon pepper blend. Avocado on whole wheat with lemon sardines. I don’t know if oatmeal is a Mediterranean staple tbh but i have both sweet and savory oatmeal quite a lot. Polenta might be a close sub?

Scrambled eggs + whites on avocado toast (Ezekiel or Silver Hills bread), fruit. Black tea.
