Sometimes I like buying seed packets that have a mystery mix of seeds. I did that with sunflowers this year and was not disappointed. So I just ordered a mystery mix seed pack of squash/zucchini. Am I the only one who likes to be surprised?

I love that idea! Where did you get your squash mix seeds from? I generally only grow one or two summer squash plants a year, though…

  2. Whenever I trade seeds with people from Reddit, I include a random bag of seeds.

Could be anything from squash, to Carolina Reaper, maybe even some radishes…

I finally got fed up of losing label markers and finding 1-2 year old plastic tags in the dirt over winter, so this year I just mixed a bag of 4-5 varieties of a vegetable together for cucumbers and squash and I just planted them without knowing which specific variety it is. It’s something I want to eat, I’ll probably recognize it later

This year I bought 3 different variety packs: beets, carrots, and bell peppers. I hate it. In each case the least common variety is the one that has popped up so I have candy cane beets, white carrots, and purple peppers.

My dad put a bunch of leftover squash/zucchini/pumpkin/etc seedlings trays out in his backup garden (lol lucky guy), and it’s amazing to see them all duke it out and see what grows.

If I had extra space, I’d love to grow a random seed packet.

i do this too. i even take all my seed packets and take a lil from every one and put in new packet, then every spring i toss out seeds around the outside of work. cant wait to see a pepper plant growing in the parking lot or some tomatoes in the parking lot. U gotta at least make some potential lil happy suprises.

No way I have a whole mystery bed. One of my favorite parts of my garden. I’ve gotten way way better at identifying seedlings and I’ve found several new favorites I never would have otherwise!

I unknowingly did on half. They just popped up with different things than the seed pouch I bought advertised. And last year I saved seeds from a medley of cherry tomatoes so it was a mystery what colors would grow

Yes. There’s so many pepper varieties I want to grow and picking and choosing is hard. So while I do get specific seeds for ones I really, really want to grow, I also love getting some mixed pepper seeds too. It’s really fun to see them sprout and mature and figure out what they are, and adds some nice variety to things while taking off the mental load of picking all the varieties.

I get some from the local garden club that have mislabeled sometimes. It’s fun. And then in my seed storage, I sometimes have some that fell out and. Mixed. I just put out what I hope is a flower mix in a spot. And a squash mix in another spot. They’ve started. I’m excited.

I used to grow cannabis from only seeds collected from stuff I had smoked over the years. It was total roll of the dice and I never had any idea what they were until the flowers were dried and consumed (legal where i live by the way, hope this comment is ok)

I just cut a bunch of different peppers to dehydrate and put some seeds aside to be labeled “pot seeds” lol

I love planting mystery seeds. I literally mixed like three or four different packets of squash that I had and just put them in different holes in my garden. Lol I guess we will find out what they are later ha ha
