Picked up an XL egg today for $60 on FB Marketplace! Closing on a home soon and can’t wait to get grilling, smoking, and much more! Any tips for a new egghead like myself are greatly appreciated!

Congrats!! Clean out the entire egg ( remove all the pieces and wipe them down and assess for large cracks), put new gaskets on it, remove the broken side wing. Make sure to calibrate the thermometer as well.

Looks like a large but that’s an absolute steal. Nice work. Just play around and get temperature regulation figured out and you’ll be good to go. You’ll need a heat deflector for low n slow cooks but other than that and an instant read thermometer you’re set.
