Got railed so bad on pizza tonight and a co worker ordered a pizza for themselves in the middle of it.

Are y’all actually getting mad at servers for ordering food? Our servers apologize sometimes too but like, they’re hungry, working, and can’t just come fuck up your line to make dinner. Strange as fuck to me when people get upset at it. I stay fed at work too

I don’t get upset. Just thought it was funny. Although I have seen people just straight up deny making servers food :/ regardless how busy I am I still make it. Even if it’s at the end of service.

My severes know better than putting their orders in during a rush.

    Do better ,y’all

If the servers can afford time to have a break in the middle of a busy service, so can I. Sorry boss, I’m heading out for 30 minutes. Back soon yeah

The only time I hate making food for FOH is if they order something to take home 10 minutes to close, after I’ve already shut down half the kitchen for the night.

I mean, during rush kind of sucks; but you dont always get to pick your breaks in this industry. Half the FOH I work with regularly eat and wait tables at the same time. Just grabbing a couple of bites if they have 5 seconds to come hide around the corner of BOH.

Other than that; mahfuckas gotta eat, and it’s my job to feed ’em.

    Meg when server ordered pizza

When a coworker does that without mentioning it to me directly, I always just do the order last,
Not out of spite but because the customer is always the number 1 priority first, And if the coworker becomes annoyed about it i directly tell them to please not order during the rush and please do order on our downtime otherwise you have to wait.

Good thing you censored the server name so we don’t know it was Meg 😅

What’s the issue with mid rush? If you are so insane busy, this is a management problem.

Raise prices, hire more people, stagger seating.

Feed the staff then. Boosts morale and retention.

Or have everyone pissy and looking for a new job?

  11. Seniormano

Was there a staff meal, and Meg just wanted pizza on her break? Otherwise I see no problem with this.

  12. Zootshootriot

Fuck that I will always feed or do a staff meal before service. They can put tickets in during a rush, and I make it when it’s an appropriate time

  13. LordDickSauce

Well…. you are already working. What’s one more pie?

Most restaurants I’ve worked in only allow you to order food for yourself in the last 30 minutes of service. Can’t tell you how many times my managers just said “no, they had a busy night”

As if I didn’t either? You offer 50% off for employees (and typically a shift meal for BOH only) but get to pick and choose when we can use it “just because”?

I would never order after BOH is in the weeds or even close to finishing up, that’s just common courtesy.

No matter how busy I get I’ll still make an employees food with love as long as they don’t try to modify the fuck out of it

Yellow pizza sounds like the version of pizza that you’d learn to make in prison.

American cheese slices, a tortilla, ketchup sachets for the sauce, and if you speak to white dizzo in D wing, he knows some way you can use a kettle and a toilet seat to cook it, but you need to buy a condom full of oil from someone with kitchen access.

Don’t fall for dizzo’s “I’ll make you one”, he’ll charge you 10 packs of ramen.

This is why staff meal rocks. Doesn’t burden the line during service and brings foh and boh together at the end of lunch and dinner. Also no one pays for food. And the cooks get to be creative. It’s a real all around win if your owner is cool enough to do it.
Edit: employee meal to staff meal

Ideally a server will wait until the rush is winding down, but I’d never hold it against them for when they order (even if I bitch when the ticket comes in). I’ll tell them that their ticket goes to the end of the line, but I’d rather them order when shit’s already fucked up anyways than order when the rush is done and I’ve got a cigarette and a beer on my mind

  19. newthrash1221

She’s gonna be waiting. She must *really , really* be craving a yellow pizza (whatever tf that is), because the guests are prioritize before a fucking server clocking out lol.

  20. Shooter_Mcgavin9696

Meg seems chill but I’m ripping my hair out over yellow fucking pizza.

I had the same thing happen last week. This coworker had recently told me that a new pizza that I created was disgusting, and then he had the gall to order a pizza in the middle of the busiest pizza rush that I’ve experienced. He also had a bunch of mods. I completely ignored his order until the rush was over, and then I made him wait another 20 minutes because fuck that guy. Once he finally got his pizza, he complained that he didn’t like it.

  22. helpiushsbebsnk

Can you please please tell us what a yellow pizza is

  23. jenguschrist

I’ll take an order in the middle any day (& gimmie time to work around it) rather than at 930-10 when im closing and now you wanna order shit.

  24. I have one simple rule when I was cooking. You want to put a personal order in come tell me or make sure the ticket tells me. Just like other people said if it is busy you’re going to be the lowest priority ticket. If we are at peak rush good luck it might be a couple hours lol. I’ve actually allowed servers to come back while I coached them how to make it while I was slinging tickets haha. Never rude just blunt about the situations. I’ve worked with people who would have straight meltdowns. Screaming, even threatening people. It’s never that serious.

  25. enbywithoutfear

Some of you are weirdos, feed your fucking co-workers.

If you’re in a rush the right answer is “give me a sec to get out of the weeds and then I gotchu”

And if you can sneak them free food instead of them paying for it, fuckin do that too.

  26. Ill-Understanding207

Ohhhh I learned my lesson with this one, just make the damn food man!

  27. lHyperlLethal

I would love when the 17-19 year old delivery drivers come in the kitchen during a lunch rush and just ask for food. Then come back and wonder why it was never made. Former cook/ manager at a deli.
