Is this a good grill? 850 pro series?

I am in my 3rd year with this exact model and am very happy with it for the most part. Had to replace ignitor, temp probe and control panel this past Spring (I think only control panel was actually bad), but that was the order in which Pit Boss support sent me the replacements for free. 80% of my cooks on this thing are smoking, not grilling, but when I do grill with it, the Royal Oak 100% charcoal pellets are key.

I had a 850Pro for a few years. Replaced the controller one time, otherwise flawless.

Sold it when I moved, and went with a camp chef because of the easy clean out function. Highly recommend you look at camp chef. I found mine at Sportsmans for $499. Easy clean out and the slide sear functions both work great.

    Good luck with your choice!

Probably. I got mine from Costco though mainly due to return policy – just in case.

compared to gas or charcoal, pellet grills are a mound of maintance and replacing probes and parts. But. . . perfect ribs every time. Every. Damn. Time.

I have this one. Two years now I think. I’m quite happy with it. If I could change anything, I’d want it to be a larger diameter to hold more meat, etc.
