Was craving the breakfast flavours of home so went to Hello Bangladesh to try some last weekend. Was not disappointed!

Got both Porota (paratha) and Ruti (tortilla; not pictured), Beef Kala Bhuna (the dark curry on the left), and Beef Paya (trotters stew, right). Super rich and tasty. Should've got the Booter Daal (Garbanzo-Lentil stew) too as it's a Bengali breakfast essential; it looked really good! But my partner and I weren't sure if we could've finished everything. You might have to be a little adventurous to try the Paya, but it is so soo gooood.

Cost us around ~$45.. probably a bit more expensive than other Bangladeshi spots around Queens, but frankly, Hello Bangladesh is generally so much better than most other spots that I'm okay paying a little extra.

  1. That paya is definitely one of the best I’ve had in NYC. Need to revisit.

This place is awesome. They’re very friendly in giving recommendations and explaining what everything is. Thanks for sharing!

A bit off-topic: Do they also serve in paper plates or real bowls?

Have not tried their breakfast but their biriyani is thoroughly mid. Probably wouldn’t go back…

How do you order at a Bangladeshi restaurant? Last time I went there was almost like a “buffet” of items, but wasn’t sure how to order. Is there like a “chicken” combo? Or do you order by which curries/meats you want? Is it pay by weight?

Never heard of Beef Kala Bhuna, is it similar to rendang?

Never had Bangladeshi food, is it spicy like Indian?
