Fans Are Losing It Over Popular Olive Oil Brand’s Big Change originally appeared on Parade.
Maturing is realizing that there is such a thing as “good” olive oil. Sure, it can be hard to determine, but that doesn’t mean it’s not out there. It’s not just a buzzword on cooking shows or some frivolous obsession of the rich and famous; it actually exists out in the wild. And once you’ve had it, it’s hard to go back to the mediocre stuff. In a world with Oro Bailen and Flamingo Estate, why settle for anything less?
That being said, we get the hesitancy to spend $30 or more on a single bottle of olive oil. In this economy? We’ll settle for the cheapest grocery store option we can find. Lucky for us, there are plenty of great olive oils at the grocery store, too, and they don’t necessarily have to cost you an arm and a leg. California Olive Ranch is a popular brand that costs around $12 a bottle, and Carapelli Olive Oil gets pretty good ratings across the board. But all other grocery store options pale in comparison to that of cult-favorite brand Graza.

What Makes Graza Olive Oil So Good?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, Graza first launched in 2022 as a direct-to-consumer brand known for packing their ultra-fresh single-origin olive oil in squeeze bottles. While it’s the first company to use squeeze bottles by any means, fans have long praised the brand for popularizing the unique packaging that has been the go-to choice for professional chefs for years. Pair that with incredibly high-quality olive oil that you can drizzle, sizzle, and frizzle, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for success.

Plastic vs. Glass: Which is Best?
But for all its pros, one glaring con has garnered continued criticism from shoppers, and the brand is finally addressing the issue by making a major—and long-awaited—change. As popular as those convenient squeeze bottles are, the fact that they’re made of plastic hasn’t always been a huge selling point for a population of fans who are becoming increasingly more concerned about microplastics affecting their overall health.
Additionally, plastics can leach phthalates over time, which have been linked to endocrine disruption and some cancers. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the squeeze bottle can also let in little pockets of air, which can degrade the olive oil and cause it to go rancid faster. Glass, on the other hand—specifically dark glass—is best for olive oil because it’s non-toxic and helps keep the olive oil fresh for as long as possible. So what does all this have to do with Graza?
Well, if you’re smart (or just chronically online), you’ve probably figured out that Graza just dropped new glass bottles and fans are understandably freaking out. To announce the new update, the brand posted a cheeky video on Instagram of their team celebrating the reveal, saying, “How it feels knowing we’ll never see another, “but it’s in plastic,” comment again.” The new bottles are made of sleek, dark glass, and for those of you concerned about using too much olive oil, the tops include a “hidden” pop-up spout that makes pouring just enough easier than ever.
What Fans Are Saying
Right now, you can only grab either the brand’s Drizzle or Sizzle oil, but we’re sure we’ll see even more innovation from Graza soon enough. In terms of price, the 750mL Sizzle bottle costs $19.99 while the 500mL Drizzle bottle costs $21.84. You can also grab The Duo in a pack for $42.98. Understandably, fans went wild at the news with responses like “It’s about f*%ing time” continuing to pour in. “*adds to cart,” said one fan. “SO EXCITED!!!!!!” someone else said. Top Chef alum Joe Sasto even got in on the excitement and asked, “Can I squeeze glass?”
While the majority of the response was positive, there were a few diehard squeeze bottle lovers in the comments who said they’d never let them go, and the good news is, you won’t have to. If you’re still all aboard the squeeze bottle train, the OG bottles will still be available right alongside the new glass options. Maybe we really can have it all.
