• INGREDIENTS •
1 cup split red lentils, dry
2 cups water
juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup tahini
1 garlic clove
1 tsp salt

• METHOD •
Add the lentils to a sieve and rinse well to get rid of any dirt.
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pot, then add the lentils, reduce to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
Drain and rinse with cold water. The lentils should be soft and almost paste like. Add to a blender and blend a few seconds until smooth.
Add the lemon juice, tahini, garlic and salt and blend again. Add 2-3 Tbsp of water until you’ve reached the desired consistency (it will firm up more once it gets cold).
Serve with paprika, cumin and a drizzle of olive oil and enjoy!

  2. If you blend them really smooth, they go down the drain without clogging it.
Then go ahead and fry a beautiful steak.

  3. Alternative to chickpeas? Dude.. its just another vegetable. I don't call watermelon an alternative for mango

  4. Can replace tahini with something else? Like rice bran oil? I hate the smell of tahini.

  5. Didn't know that.
But I do know channa dal makes regular tasting smooth hummus in less cooking time & without the tedious mucking about with skins.

  6. Wait u guys, we need a healthy alternative to chickpeas too??😭 I thought chickpeas WERE the healthy alternative😅

  7. It’s not rude. It’s not unkind. It’s just a statement of fact. IF there is not hummus in the hummus THEN it’s not hummus. It’s a lentil dip. It sounds delicious.❤️

  8. You should also soak them too, it has many benefits..i mostly cook them without soaking too but i have discovered how important soaking is for all the lentils (just like beans)

Your recipe looks great, will try it soon
