First time using an Electric Bread Slicer! ππͺβ¨
Boyyy is this a game changer for my sourdough loaves!! I had been eyeing these for a while now but didnβt want to spend too much on one. I finally gave in and got one yesterday! I was butchering my loaves using bread knives and I felt like I wasnβt getting as many slices as I could be getting out of them.. we were running out of bread quicker because of the uneven slicing ππ₯². I would usually get around 14 slices per loaf with a bread knife but I get 20+ EVEN slices with this thing!! I am in love ππ₯Ή.
Also thank you u/Rhiannon1307 for recommending I take my loaves out 10 mins before they are ready and putting them on the metal oven rack so the bottoms get brown! It worked perfectly π€π½. I was struggling to get some colour on the bottom for a long time.
(Didnβt mist any water or use ice cubes for these and they turned out great! π€).

Iβve got the Cabelaβs 8.7β food slicer and love using it!!! Love the no ice/mist comment. Itβs unnecessary, especially if using a reasonable hydration dough recipe.

πIngredients for 2 loaves –
890g Bread Flour, 112g Wholemeal Flour, 600g Warm Water, 8g Diastatic Malt, 480g Starter, 22g Salt.
Initial mix with everything but salt, let it sit for 40 mins and then add salt. Do 1st stretch and fold. After an hour, take aliquot sample and do 2nd stretch and fold. Do another two or more stretch and folds 30mins apart. Once aliquot is done, pre shape the dough and refrigerate overnight.
Bake on middle rack 240c for 25min lid on, lower rack 220c lid off for 10 mins, take out of the tins and bake for 10 mins on metal wire oven racks. Wait 4 hrs until itβs cool before cutting. β¨
Dumb question… are those just 2 loaf pans stacked?
That’s how you know you’ve gone too far down the rabbit hole π
Love the food slicer idea, and your loaves look fantastic! What pans are using in that video?
What tins are those? As fun as a round loaf is, I want a nice toaster sized loaf, dang it!
Can you share the link to the slicer?
I want one so bad
Iβd be terrified of this; once owned a guillotine paper trimmer and managed to pull my thumb nail up against the blade at 45 degrees trying to clean offcuts. I feel faint just thinking about my stupidity with that sharp object π π
Thanks for sharing!
A couple things..
What is whole meal flour? What is aliquot and what are you doing with it exactly?
Would love to try this recipe!
Okay. I have to say it – That has got to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Those slicers scare me, but it’s clearly working great for you. Be careful!
I find this video very satisfying! Making my Christmas list now for hubby π€£
someone convince me to get a bread slicer.
I keep making stupidly irregular sizes with my bread knife hahahaha.
Love my bread slicer. Saves so much time
and no more wasted or uneven slices.

This bread looks absolutely divine!!
I donβt understand people without a bread slicer. It costs almost nothing and you can enjoy it for years.
Wow, those really look nice!
Is this actually a bread slicer or a deli meat slicer?
Are those just 2 meatloaf pans on top of each other? I love that normal bread shape lol

Those tin loaves look amazing. Mine never rise. I’ve tried everything, but it’s always a big (flat) fail.
I have the same slicer. However seeing your man handle that bread without the protection gave me anxiety. Please use the protection gadget that makes you push the bread to be sliced. Bread gets stuck sometimes switch the machine off please. When it happens.
Thats crazy that just stacking loaf pans together generates both enough heat for the crust and smooth steaming for such a nice looking loaf! All these years of fumbling around with the heavy stone, cast iron shells, ice cube danger pans…
