I feel like you can tell a lot about a restaurant by it’s knives.
These are the knives we send out with our wedge salads, and personally I feel like they're a little overqualified to cut lettuce.

That’s a bit much. I’d also expect them to get swiped by guests

“I dated these pieces of the blade at 600 B.C. The metal’s been folded over 200 times. The Japanese didn’t start making swords that way until the Middle Ages. So where the hell did it come from? If I could verify its existence, it would be like discovering a 747, made a thousand years before the Wright Brothers ever flew.”

But why it’s fully serrated from end to end?

My ex wife worked at a crazy overpriced place in a boutique hotel where they printed the prices for everything from napkins to shellfish forks to wine lists in the back of one of the wine lists. The captain would tell the tables about it and say that the w are welcome to take whatever they like as a souvenir and simply add it to the check.

The amount of chips in the none serrated part is staggering. Is it safe to assume they all look that rough? I think it’s time for them to invest in a fully serrated steak knife set for the dining room.

Rain drop Damascus steel.

They make up for me being on pantry, I’m Hella under qualified to cut lettuce. Boom! Self Roasted.

Those are most likely acid etched, so not as expensive as you might think.

Reminds me of that cafeteria nearby that serves a dessert in a bowl worth 1k €… Imagine accidentally breaking it. The same way I would not be surprised if your guests were stealing your knives
RandallOfLegend
Depends if it’s real Damascus. Some of those are just laser etched. You can usually see the layers on the back of the blade. Unless they faked that too now.

I can’t tell if that pattern is on the knife or if it’s the camera.

That is not folded steel that is just an acid etched pattern to appear like higher quality steel.

I feel like I’d rather eat off paper plates than have a restaurant more concerned about their cutlery than their food. Obviously you can do both, but some restaurants absolutely focus on the wrong things.
