A few years in on full-on gardening, my husband built a free-standing shelf that sits in front of the window still but behind the faucet so we can pile even more up there to ripen. We put it away in the fall and bring it back in summer.

They’re real beauties! You could ripen them faster if they’re in a paper bag with an apple or banana though. They don’t even need to be exposed to the sun, just somewhere at room temp or so.

They are gorgeous, but they are upside down. Tomatoes store better on their “hips” or stem side down
Edit. Goober on the right looks legit

They look great. As info, there is no need to ripen them in a window sill. I would store them in a single layer on your counter top stem-side down. And don’t put hem in a bag with a banana unless you want to “force” ripen them which would limit the flavor.

I know they can go in a paper bag but I rarely have one. I pull my tomatoes when they are quite green still and they turn fully red in, usually, a couple days on this sill. I have been putting them here for a few years now so it’s tradition. Lol 🙂 at the end of season I will put all my last tomatoes in a paper bag because they are usually no where near to being ripe and take much longer.
