Boozy Moo Ice Cream is alcohol infused ice cream.
VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. (WNYT) — There’s a fast-growing business in Capital Region, tempting adults with ice cream that’s unlike anything they’ve probably had before.
Boozy Moo is gaining fans all across New York by combining ultra-premium ice cream, deliciously fun flavors, and a shot of top-shelf liquor.
As for the alcohol content, it comes in at 5% — as bad as strong as a normal can of beer.
The creator of the catchy new brand, Leyla Kiosse, says she got the idea to mix alcohol and ice cream during the pandemic shutdown in 2020. That’s when Kiosse’s newly opened bar in Albany, The Yard – Hatchet House & Bar was shut down with the rest of the country.
“My grand opening was March 13, 2020. The shutdowns for March 16, 2020,” recalls Kiosse. “For a few months I didn’t know what I was going to do. Everyone was home, I was home. I had a small ice cream machine that we got as a wedding gift one year.
“I pulled that out, and I was making ice cream and thinking about my bar. Then I got the idea that I could potentially freeze alcohol into the ice cream, because I had all this alcohol at the bar that I couldn’t use. I basically taught myself how to make alcohol infused ice cream at home.”
The combination was an instant hit when Layla also added in her creativity and ideas for wacky yet scrumptious ice cream varieties.
You can find Boozy Moo ice creams stocked at a handful of different spots around Capital Region and western New York.
