The following day, January 22nd, the restaurant team shared via social media that the space would be closed until repairs could be made. Hoboken residents had no problem supporting Otto Strada’s sister business, KikiLu Gelato, located at 900 Garden Street, in the meantime.
In April 2025, the Otto Strada team shared an update on Instagram, thanking neighbors for their patience while the work took place.

About Otto Strada
Otto Strada (meaning Eighth Street in Italian) opened in 2014 and is a quintessential Hoboken Italian restaurant. It has a wood-fired pizza oven, handmade pasta, and is a BYOB spot, meaning high-quality food with laid-back vibes.
Otto Strada is a small, BYOB spot that does not take reservations, but it’s worth the gamble to wander over here for a meal. There’s also a charming outdoor area for an al fresco meal. The stuffed artichoke is an awesome way to start the meal while perusing the large menu, though the kind servers will say that the best thing at Otto Strada is the pasta. One of HG’s favorite dishes: homemade orecchiette with fresh corn and burrata. It may be on the simple side, but this dish lets the fresh ingredients speak for themselves. For those opting for pizza, gluten-free crusts are available for individual pizzas only. And for those feeling extra indulgent: there’s also a Nutella pizza for dessert, decorated with chocolate chips and hazelnuts. Yes, we’ve tried it. Yes, it’s incredible.
Otto Strada is a favorite for Hoboken residents and visitors. In 2024, the restaurant won HG’s ‘Best of Hoboken’ in three categories: Best Restaurant in Hoboken, Best BYOB in Hoboken, and Best Pasta in Hoboken. It’s been a repeat winner for Best BYOB. Considering the competition, these accolades are definitely worth bragging about.
