This was at Albertsons. There are 7 and they appear to be boneless ribeyes, I think they sell these for around $22/lb.

Why were they priced this way? Their original separate Sell Thru date passing?

They’re not prime, so they wouldn’t be $22/lb.

If they’re lucky, they’re choice, but they look select, and thin cut; I’d say typical price on these should be $8-10/lb.

But yes, $3/lb because they’re nearing/at the age they have to sell, and you probably have 2-3 days to cook or vacuum seal and freeze immediately.

Definitely not great cuts. But at $2.99/lb, it’s cheaper than ground beef. I like to partially freeze the steaks and put them on a meat slicer to shave them down to about 1/16″ thick slices. Throw them on a griddle and heat them up for shaved steak sandwiches.

Tenderize it with baking soda for 3 hours
and it’s a fantastic cut of steak.

They are only boneless rib eyes if they come from the boneless region of France, them there are sparkling rib eyes.

That looks to be at the front end of the loin just before ribeye. On the first steak, you can see the meat coming on top of the fat. That’s the first part of the ribeye territory.

For that price, that’s some damn good stuff. Enjoy them.

I’ve been walking by steak for weeks because of the ridiculous prices on small, thin cuts. Enjoy.

I don’t generally shop at Albertsons, but they do have obscenely good clearance deals on meats. About 6 months ago, the one close to us had full racks of baby back ribs for $3 each. We bought the lot (12 racks).
