Had dinner with a friend I haven’t seen in about a year, opened a bottled I’ve been hanging onto about a decade now. Decanted for about an hour before pouring.
Black cherry, overripe blueberry, leather, cassis, clay, white and black pepper, dried rose and lavender, hints of cedar.
Velvety and well structured, almost opened too young and would definitely hold for another decade at least. Over another two hours it evolved beautifully and by the time we got to the dregs it was absolutely phenomenal. I’ll be hunting another bottle of this, if only to chase this memory.

Gorgeous wine when it gets 10+ years on it. What a great pick.
I’ve got a few 19s and 21s and I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to let them make it to the 10 year mark. I popped a 19 last month and it was just incredible after a 4 hour decant.
If you’re out to eat — how does the timing for decanting work?
Such a solid wine have had many vintages of this and it just gets better each year
One of my favorite wines that I think is underrated.
By far my favorite wine of all time. Makes me feel fancy and I’m not a fancy guy.
