The key to succeeding in the Roblox game Grow a Garden is to have rare items. The rarer the crop, pet, or item, the better—and more valuable—the crop that results from it.
One way to obtain rare items is by waiting and hoping to get lucky. Each in-game shop has a small chance of stocking higher-value seeds and items, so if you keep checking back, you’ll eventually be able to find a good seed to plant in your garden for high-value harvests.
As of August 2, 2025, there’s another way to get certain items: trading. The trading system has several limits and features that will be useful for all players to become familiar with.
How Trading Works In Grow A Garden
Be Aware Of The Limits And Hidden Features
Patch 1.17.0 of the massively popular Grow a Garden added the much-requested trading mechanic, making it possible to exchange with other players for those elusive items on your wishlist. The system can be used to trade pets, crops, and Sheckles.
Before you can initiate a trade, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:
Have an account older than seven days.
Own a Trading Ticket.
To start a trade, hold the Trading Ticket and approach another player, which will bring up the option to request a trade. A few important things to remember about Trading Tickets:
Only the person requesting the trade needs to own a Trading Ticket.
If the recipient declines your trade request, you get to keep the ticket.
Once the trade is initiated, you lose the ticket, even if one of the players cancels the trade.
You can purchase a Trading Ticket from the Gear shop (found on the opposite end of the map from the seed and crop stalls) for 100,000 Sheckles or 19 Robux. The tickets are available on both Private and Public servers, usually with a stock of about 1-3.
Once you’re in the trading screen, you can add items and crops to your side of the trade. You can also add Sheckles by typing in a value. For larger values, you can use shorthand like 9M in place of 9,000,000.
Ways To Stay Safe While Trading In Grow A Garden
Protect Yourself With These Steps
Trading is an incredibly useful feature for Grow a Garden players, but it can also have drawbacks. Whenever there’s trading in a popular Roblox game, there’s also the possibility of getting an unbalanced trade or even getting scammed. The feature has several failsafes intended to reduce the chance of scams and unfair trades, as is standard in Roblox trading systems.
To protect both players, a five-second timer starts every time an item is added or removed from the trade. Both players must accept the trade again every time anything changes.
The total Sheckle value of both sides of the trade is displayed at the top of the screen. You can also hover over (or tap on) any item in the trade window to see its value in Sheckles, to help you determine if the trade is fair.
Before trading was introduced, players were using gifting as an informal way to trade, which was far more unsafe and had no way to ensure the other player would hold up their end of the bargain. Though it’s not without its dangers, the trading system in Grow a Garden on Roblox makes it possible to trade more safely and securely.
