Very misleading to even put the protein and fiber content. 2 cups dried will become like 6 cups cooked. Ain't nobody having like 240 carbs for 44 grams of protein.
It ruins the whole texture of the white rice though. The fluffy texture is the best part of white rice. And it’s why wholegrain rice sucks. Just have the white rice on the side of your protein. Mujaddara is a beautiful dish in its own right but white rice has its own texture that’s the whole selling point of it. If you’re craving white rice, a mixed rice ain’t gonna cut it.
Kylie, I just made this! My rice cooker broke so I used a regular pot, brought the water to a roaring boil, and then turned it to low and let it do its thing. The rice is so moist and everything cooked evenly. I’m so happy with how it turned out. Thank you.
More texture plus minerals and vitamins. ❤ Im gonna start adding lentil and quinoa to my rice. Last night i made white jasmine rice and added some tofu + veggies. I love red lentils so im gonna start your recipe next time i make rice
I personally am not particularly fond of quinoa and I think I like it the most of my entire family, has anyone tried a different grain to mix with the rice? Rice and lentils is something that we eat together fairly often or lentil and barley. I have mixed barley with rice when we had them both left over but they cook at such different lengths of time it can't be done together. I just switch out the type of lentil based on how much time the grain takes to cook if I'm cooking them together. I'd love to experiment, I don't wanna have overcooked rice.

I love rice. Your awesome for opening up my pallet. Do you have any chicken katsu meals? 😅
How many servings does this yield?
i like to add crashed yuba ( tofu skins) to my rice

Definitely utilizing your meals post partum and beyond
I have to try this ! I don’t eat as much as fiber as I should so this could a solution !
What's your tips on healing your gut after being plant based for seven years but has been bloated, gassy, constipated, and lacking in memory?
made this for the first time recently and it was so yummy!!!
This, and some real stock for added flavour and protein!

This is my pov 🙃. I will be trying this. Thank you
I think you should make this exact same video a 4th time!
When you say 44g protein/30g fiber, is that per serving or of the whole pot?

Can you please advise how to cook this if you don't have a rice cooker and are just boiling them in a pan? Thank you!!
Its crazy to me that some people view more texture as GOOD. I have a baby mouth 😂
I’m going to try this recipe halved when making rice cooker “fried” rice later
Beware: if you don’t rinse, soak, and rinse your lentils before putting them in the rice cooker, you may have toots lasting up to 96 hours…
I wonder if i can make it in an instant pot?

Is it any different if you don't have a rice cooker?
This looks amazing! One question though… Do you not need to soak the lentils first? Especially for people with tummy issues like me..
Love this! How would you cook it in a regular pot? (I don’t have a rice cooker.)
In South Asia, it's called khichri
Would lemon zest or maybe a couple spoons of cottage cheese work with it too? Maybe cardamom or nutmeg for Indian inspired?
I dont like lentils, so i add 1 cup quinoa instead of ½ cup
What would you recommend eating this with?
Khichdi mentioned!
1 c white rice 1/2 c lentil 1/2 quinoa + around 3 cups of water
Or do half white half brown rice, no change in cooking time and same amount of water, great texture and tastes great too
This is so genius
instructions unclear, lost so many quinoa grains in the washing process! (note to add them after washing lentils and rice)
Until you…. I didn’t know I needed to wash my rice. ❤❤❤ 😅
White rice is the devils food 😢
Is it 44g protein for the whole pot or per serving, and if serving them how big?
This had become my new rice thanks ❤❤❤
