A popular pizza restaurant has thanked its customers after being granted an alcohol licence.

Tesoro Pizza Napoletana in Heaton has been open for the last 15 months and is one of Bolton’s popular restaurants.

The New Hall Lane pizzeria was granted a licence to sell alcohol on and off the premises on August 25, 2023.

But the licence lapsed on April 30 this year when restaurant owners Peter Lancaster and Joseph Whittaker changed the name of their company from JJP Pubs Ltd to Tesoro Hospitality Group Ltd.

Tesoro owner Joe Whittaker said: “So we are really happy we have been granted our license again and can get back to what we love to do.

“The last few months have been incredibly difficult not being able to sell alcohol as our great wines and cocktails are part of the overall experience here.

“Now we can put the last few months behind us and focus back on what we do, we are implementing changes to the menu to take us up until Christmas with some fantastic pizzas and small plates we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while.

“In terms of the drinks we are going back to our roots and providing a clear message in our wine programme.

“We will be pouring exclusively Italian wines with grapes that are indigenous to Italy, championing small boutique producers some grapes that are a little off the beaten track but all great and showcase the different regions of Italy.

“Our wine suppliers Hallgarten have one of the best Italian portfolios in the world so we’ve worked with them whilst not being able to sell alcohol to really focus on the wine list. Each wine will compliment different pizzas on our menu which we think is a nice touch.

“Our famous spritz menu is back with 6 different spritz to choose from Sicilian spritz, sunset spritz, Sarti Rosa, sidro spritz and the ever popular limoncello and Aperol spritz.

“We have tasked our two bar staff whilst they haven’t had a great deal to do in terms of serving drinks over the past months to invent some of their own cocktails which will be on as specials each week.

“We have added some new beers to the lineup also and will bring in guest bottles as we go along.

“We love to provide a great experience for anyone that spends their hard earned money with us, luckily we are booked up every night which is obviously fantastic and the support we’ve had during the last few difficult months has been so lovely to see, we have a lot of regulars as well as people who are first timers and have travel quite a way to try our pizzas and hospitality.

“Our whole team is very tight and we are just all so happy to be back to normal service!”
