My original BGE Large fire ring cracked. I got a new part under warranty. But the new fire ring looks different – it is smooth on one side and does not have the three indentations for the conveggtor to sit in. Did they change the design of the fire ring? Any issues using the new one without the indentations? Thanks. (I also plan to change the gasket).

Yeah the newer fire ring doesn’t have the slots. Put it with the lettering facing up and you’ll be good to go as long as it’s the right size
New design, totally normal. Also, I’d recommend hanging onto the old fire ring – it’s still perfectly functional even with the crack. That way if something happens to your replacement and you’re out of warranty, you’ll have a spare.
They removed those notches as they found they were prone to breaking. I had to get a warranty replacement for mine a few years ago when there were multiple cracks on my fire ring.
