Okay here goes. I am from Ottawa, Canada. I just got back from close to a week in New York. I stayed in the Park Slope area of Brooklyn. I walked miles in sweltering heat and ate lots of good food along the way. Lots of inspiration from this group and a few random selections based more on the room and location than necessarily the food. All the food was great though BTW. My only gripe (likely a plus for most) was portion size. I hate food waste but a couple of the lunches were way too big for me. Let me know what you think and what I missed. I usually visit about 4 times a year.

  1. Luigi’s Pizza – South Slope Brooklyn. This was a really delicious slice. The crust was perfect.

  2. Atoboy – Oxtail, various kimchi, seaweed rice and boneless fried chicken. I asked if they could box the fried chicken supplement to go and they did with no problem. I ate 2 there and took the rest home. I really enjoyed my meal at Atoboy. Great food and service.

  3. Cafe Sabarsky – Upper East Side – German Sausage stuffed with cheese, dill potato salad, horse radish and coleslaw. I could lonely eat one sausage. Food was delicious and service very informative and friendly. The thinly sliced potato salad was delicious.

  4. Dirt Candy – Lower East Side – This was a Twinkie tomato thing on their tasting menu. Service was upbeat and quirky. Food was interesting and mostly good.

  5. Tacos Morelos Food Truck – 5th Ave. Park Slope Brooklyn. This was the Carne Asado. I’m not a taco expert but this is way better than any have had back home.

  6. A&A Roti and Doubles – Bed Stuy – This was my food highlight. The entire experience was fantastic. The oxtail roti did me in though. Enough for a whole family.

  7. Sardi’s – Broadway area – A pre-show very touristy but highly recommended bite. I had the shrimp cocktail and French onion soup. Both were exactly as they should be. Also note: no plastic cup for the cocktail sauce 😀

These and a lot of other great breakfast food etc not mentioned made for an amazing trip.

I was really hoping that each pic was going to be a slice and a soda

Hell yeah, nice job hitting A&A Bake Doubles and Roti!

If you stay in Park Slope again, would recommend Reyes Deli. Further south is El Tenampa and in Sunset Park, Tacos El Bronco, Ba Xuyen, and more.

Shocked at how few people know what doubles are. So so good.

Amazing range on this list and you made it all the way to A&A. The best one of these I’ve seen well done.

Very impressed. These are all very good “every day nyc” places.

Looks like an ideal slice of ny pizza. Thanks for sharing, adding it to my list of shops to try next time I’m in park slope
