Recently picked up an older performer on marketplace for $100. Cleaned it up today and it’s in great shape. Was surprised that not only was there propane in the tank it lit first try and got some briquettes nice and hot. I’d say maybe a little faster than a chimney but probably negligible. Picked up a couple cheap sear baskets for direct heat and cooked a ribeye. It won’t be my grill for every week night (hence the gas Weber next to it) but I’m excited to try out some different things. Would like to do attempt a brisket and some larger cuts soon. Would take any recommendations on additional modifications. Also for anyone who has experience how hard will it be to get this little tank filled? Have heard some people switch to a 1 lbs or 20 lbs tank.

Most places that fill Lp tanks have the adapter for filling your five pounder, at least where I am. I have that exact one and the next year I went in to Ace and bought a green one so the blue one is a 1997 and the green one is a 1999! Enjoy!!!!
I have almost the same exact setup and love it, my add ons turn the kettle into a rotisserie and a pizza oven and the gas grill as if this year has a heavy full sized griddle that makes it blackstone type use. Use them all the time for everything you can imagine. Congrats on the new addition!
Nice SSP! The tank is no different getting filled up than any other tank but make sure it’s up to date otherwise your propane supplier won’t refill it.
I love your backyard setup!! Really nice. You found a great grill for a good price. You could just buy another tank at Walmart . That’s what I did. It’s nice to have a spare (just in case).
Wow nice find. I had an original from 94 in Green finally burned through the lower bowl back in 2019. As for the tank I had retailers that didn’t want to fill it due to laws about the tank being tested. I do know there’s a hose kit for a 20 gallon tank. Might be your best bet.
Love it. If you get the lid bail from a newer one, it’s a simple swap and you’ll be able to open the lid 90 degrees
It’s a beaut Clark.
Score!
