Baking is my coping mechanism. Did a sloppy frost job, but really who cares.
Recipe is the 6" white cake with buttercream from Sally's Baking.

    I love this! Sometimes, I pull out my recipe cards and make one of my dad’s favorites. I share it with my kid and tell him stories and how they would have been best buddies. I’m sending good vibes your way!

    You are both funny and sweet. I know he loves his cake. As a witch, the first photo looks like an alter to him and an offering not just of cake, but cake with a lit candle is so lovely. You are doing a wonderful job taking care of your feelings. He’s proud of you. Grief is love with nowhere to go, so learning about it, sitting with it, is wise.

    The frosting is quite perfect, the dome is 🤌🏻

    Hey you might not like me for saying this but I am someone who thinks very highly of parents in general.
    I feel pain in my heart when you said ‘dead’ before dad.
    I mean you can put it in a subtle way like ‘late father’ or some word or sentence that would not hit mind and heart that hard.

    The moment I read word dead, the word hit me like anything and gave me an unusual pain.

    Hope you will not mind what I said and felt, I honestly shared with you.

    But even if me saying this hurts u a tini tiny bit, my sincere apologies.
