Pure Fiber Chia Seed Piadina
Did you know the piadina has ancient origins? This classic Italian flatbread can be traced back to Roman times, where it was originally a simple, inexpensive food for the poor. Today, it’s a regional specialty of Emilia-Romagna.
Ingredients:
• 25g of chia seeds
• 120ml of water
• A pinch of salt
Notes:
• The “Piadina”: The chia seeds and water will form a gel-like consistency, which acts as the “dough.” Ensure it’s fully set before cooking.
Instructions:
1. Prep Base: In a bowl, add the chia seeds, water, and a pinch of salt. Mix everything together.
2. Chill: Let the chia pudding rest in the fridge for at least three hours, preferably overnight, until it has a firm, gel-like consistency.
3. Cook Piadina: Pour the chia mixture into an oiled, non-stick pan. Flatten it slightly to form a piadina shape. Cook with a lid for 5 minutes per side or until the excess water has evaporated
4. Stuff & Serve: Take the piadina off the heat, stuff it with your preferred fillings, fold and enjoy!
