First time buying tteokbokki, what is this black and pink discoloration?
I bought vacuum sealed rice cakes (honor brand) but when I arrived home I noticed the black and pink discoloration

When in doubt, toss it! It’s not a typical color found in rice cake.

Looks like mold. I would return it and ask for a refund.

It’s not Korean!! It’s a product of China. Toss it. That blackness is gross. Was it frozen when you bought it?

Buy korean brand tteokbokki. It does matter bc from personal experience, I never had moldy tteokbokki from a korean brand. And buy the more reputable ones
