We went for lunch at The Old Arcade Cafe in Ammanford

The Old Arcade Café was opened around four months ago by Mr Nicolai Kostadinova and Mrs Poliana Kostadinova.

I previously had the pleasure of meeting the friendly couple, but I had never tried their food.

Upon entering, I was greeted by a kind member of staff who allowed me to choose what table I wanted.

Then, I was approached by an attentive waitress who swiftly brought me a glass of ice-cold water and took my order.

I stuck to my Italian roots and went for the homemade lasagne.

My food arrived in good time, and I was impressed with the presentation.

The service at the cafe was great. (Image: Newsquest) The lasagna had a golden-brown colour which fit perfectly on the plate alongside the portion of chips and salad.

The chips were well-cooked and nicely salted and the salad was fresh with a pleasant dressing.

I particularly liked the texture of the lasagne – it wasn’t falling apart, and it wasn’t soggy, it was just right.

And inside the baked beauty there was a generous amount of meat and cheese, which left me feeling satisfied.

The taste was lovely, and I could tell it was truly homemade.

Despite being in a bit of a food coma, I couldn’t resist my temptation to order dessert.

I had red velvet cake for dessert. (Image: Newsquest) The waitress recommended the red velvet which was a filling yet delightful way to end my meal.

In terms of the atmosphere, it was a relaxing space which is roomier than you might expect when looking from the outside.

Overall, I couldn’t fault the food or the service during my visit so I would give The Old Arcade Café five stars out of five.

This is my honest opinion, but you can look at the café’s Facebook page where it has a recommendation ratio of 100%.
