So I just joined the club today and am getting this thing assembled. One of the pieces of the firebox had a crack in one corner when I unboxed it, and by the time I had it all put together, the piece broke off entirely.
A few questions:
Is this damaged piece going to be a problem? Do I need to get a replacement?
Is the spacing of these pieces okay? Weird that the instructions don’t even hint at this topic.
I used a few paper towels to hold the pieces in place. Now two are wedged so firmly between the firebox and the shell that I can’t get them out without undoing it. Is it okay to just leave them there and let them burn off eventually?

This will not cause any problems at all
It’ll function completely fine but definitely email service for a replacement. You deserve to have a complete product. Just make sure the leaves are all sitting within the ring and you should be good. Also, undo a wire coat hanger to get paper out. If that doesn’t work, it’ll just turn to ash eventually.
No.
Yes.
Yes.
I would just start cooking and enjoy your purchase. There won’t be any difference if a leaf has a tiny corner missing. The corner doesn’t matter. The paper towels may burn or survive multiple cooks. If you are obsessive, get a replacement, but learn to deal with the discoloration, etc. Tbh, had the exterior or my Joe had noticeable defects, I would have complained because the appearance is part of the product.
Contact KJ or the dealer for a replacement piece. and replace it when it gets send to you.
Since you bought it new, they might just give you a full set for the fire ring, or just 1 piece
I submitted a warranty claim had the same cracked ones and they sent me a whole new set. They are my backup now.. they work fine cracked
Fire away!
Mine has one of the corners chipped after using it for a couple years. Doesn’t seem to be an issue.
