Must fifty dollars per nigiri. Cause we all know whale is highly regulated.

Kinda wild in regards to cultural differences. Not going to get on a soapbox, and I’d probably try it once. Just not sure how I’d feel about it.

I had a whale steak in Norway when I was working. An acquired taste.

I’ve tried whale in SK and Japan, the Japanese one was an omakase and well thought out. The SK came out as a platter of mix whale meat. Both times I didn’t really care for it. Some salty, some very fatty, some with no flavor. It was OK no need to try again.

Even in Tokyo it is pretty rare to get whale nigiri. What place was this? Looks like beef.

Heard it’s very good. I think it’s pilot whales which are more sustainable

Nope! But I also don’t eat octopus after watching my octopus teacher.

Fuck that. It’s shameful that Japan kills whales and dolphins just so they can have exotic food. Anyone who eats it is a contributor to the problem.

Gonna be real Ive had whale one time and it was slow roasted and served in its melted fat (Malselv, Norway) and it was the most disgusting cut of meat I ever had the displeasure of eating. It was like chewing on rubber, and this was at a community potluck with all kinds of incredible food by local cooks. It was clear to me in that experience it wasn’t the chef, it was the meat.

I love gamey meat like boar, I love fishy fish like herring or mackerel. Whale, I will never eat again.

The craziest sushi I had in Japan was raw horse nigiri. You can try some pretty interesting things.
