    Also, just for context. The paid sick leave was passed via ballot measure (AKA popular vote,) and then the state legislature, in their infinite wisdom, has undone that.

    Similar thing happening in Nebraska with medical marijuana.

    Glad I live in California . I lost my job and they refused to pay my PTO out cause they based out of Florida . California labor board had something to say about it. I got paid out REAL GOOD cause of their violation . Taking 6 months off of kitchens lmao

    I have always thought the “you must find your own shift coverage” thing to be an absolute dealbreaker. Absolutely ludacris(sic) I tell ya

    The doctor’s note thing makes me want to hit my head against the wall.

    Doctors do not want you coming in with minor things like colds, the flu, stomach flu, food poisoning, etc. It worsens an already strained healthcare system. This just drives people into having to pay crazy amounts out of pocket to go to urgent care when urgent care is going to shrug and say “get some rest and drink lots of fluids.”

    *This* is one of many reasons why I love my union-backed lunch lady-kitchen manager job. We get 10 days of paid sick time per 182-day school year, and unused days roll over until used, no expiration or limit. Any sick time left when you quit or retire is paid out at 50% of your current hourly wage.

    I live in one of the liberal hell hole cities. Sick pay is a local ordinance, and is only getting better. I have 80 hours right now, and I need to provide zero documentation to use it. I can use it whenever I want, however I want, and for any reason at all that might benefit my health. I recently took a mental health day to go on a bike ride.

    Yeah, its expensive to live here, but this is what I get for that added expense. Oh, and its also like, impossible to fire me lol.
