Hey all! Just got a new smoker in from Blue Smoke Smokers and thought I’d share my thoughts especially because it’s from a much smaller company that, in my opinion, should rival the other major backyard smoking brands (like Workhorse pits, for example). Haven’t seen a lot of folks on here with them either.

Did a lot of looking around and “research” months ago when I was in the market- considered workhorse, mill scale, m&m, goldees, and the solution. Went with this one and I’m super stoked. First, this bad boy is 3/8” rather than 1/4” which was probably the biggest reason I went with it. Second, the price point ($2,100 base) was a great deal for what it is. And third, you can essentially customize your smoker, he has 17 or so custom options, which is awesome.

Arrived raw steel, so I seasoned it with linseed oil then did a biscuit test and smoked a couple of baby back ribs. The thing held temps amazingly- I held 300F for over an hour and a half. Blew my mind. I’m upgrading from a Horizon 16” so this thing has probably 5x the size and capacity, and is much less temperamental. Definitely need to learn fire management to dial in temps but boy did she hold well and the temps were pretty damn consistent across the grates. Upper rack is much hotter, as expected.

Ribs turned out well- longer cook than expected, like I said, I need to learn how to dial in the exact temps so most of the cook was 225-250 rather than my normal 275. They were also much darker than my previous cooks, but not burned which was interesting. Not sure why, maybe just the longer cook time? Have to play around!

Overall, after a day of smoking, I’m super impressed. Held temps, no temp spikes when I added splits, was easy to manage the fire, and made some good ribs! Looking forward to cooking on it more!! Happy to answer other questions. Highly recommend checking them out!

Looks great! I love the raw finish & patina, it’ll look even cooler as it ages. Great price point and looks really well built also has a great amount of cooking space for the size. The more you play around the more you’ll learn how she runs, happy smoking.

I’m planning on getting an offset in the spring and BSS is on my list of possibilities. Hard to beat for the base price. Did you ship? Still about $1/mile?
