A Toronto Italian restaurant that’s become a popular nightlife hotspot is going up for sale. Is it time for the city to say goodbye?

If you’ve gone out on King West any time within the past three years, there’s a good chance that you ended up at (or in line to enter) Pizza Wine Disco.

Over its short, three-year tenure, the Italian restaurant that transforms into a lively bar after dark has become a staple on the scene, packed to the rafters weekend after weekend with pizza-fuelled party people.

Sure, its clientele seems a little more eager to lean into the “disco” aspect of its offerings, but Pizza Wine Disco also operates as a full-service restaurant with an enthusiastic fan base in its own right.

Being the juggernaut of the Toronto nightlife scene, it is, not to mention one backed by Liberty Entertainment Group (LEG), the hospitality group behind the likes of Danico, Don Alfonso 1890 and Paris Texas, it came as a shock when, on Aug. 21, a sales listing for Pizza Wine Disco’s prime King West location appeared on the internet.

“KING WEST–this beautifully designed restaurant is For Sale,” the listing, posted by CHI Real Estate Group, reads.

Could it be? Is it the end of Pizza Wine Disco as we know it? According to representatives from LEG and Pizza Wine Disco, no, it’s not. It is the end of the Pizza Wine Disco we’ve come to know over the past three years, though.

“We are looking to relocate the concept to a larger space,” a representative from LEG tells Dished Toronto. “A new location is coming soon.”

If the notion of a weekend with no Pizza Wine Disco had you clutching your pearls, you can breathe a sigh of relief for now: the restaurant is simply onto bigger, better things. Whether those greener pastures still happen to be on King West, however, remains to be seen.

According to another representative of the restaurant, the team is actively on the hunt for the new, larger location in question, though nothing has been formally locked down as of yet.

In the meantime, the current Pizza Wine Disco isn’t going anywhere just yet, so you can still swing by any Thursday, Friday or Saturday night for the foreseeable future.
