There are a bunch of studies about the fact that vegetarian and vegan diets are often cheaper than meat-based diets! This article shows that savings are between 11 and 41% for grocery bills, that's a lot!

I feel like my diet is a lot cheaper than others', what do you think?

As a person who is composed of roughly 70% lentils and savory oats, I tend to agree

Definitely agree! Haven’t bought chicken or fish since 2024 and don’t miss it.

I see the prices of meat in the grocery store and don’t regret being a vegetarian. Even with inflation I can still get a bag of beans or a block of tofu for just a dollar.

and yet people claim it’s expensive to cut meat just because they saw some expensive fake meat dish

Budget was cut by 20% even back in 2016 when I made the switch

This is so obvious to anybody not living in the states, where meat is so heavily subsidized.

Absolutely. I spend SO much less on groceries than what’s average for my area, even with occasional splurges on nice spices or baking ingredients. Animal products are just so expensive. Ive also cut dairy, largely for financial reasons, as its very expensive where I live too.

  8. I annually order 35 kg bags of beans and wheat grouts from a farm in my area plus bulk nut butters. Cost is about $500CAD for the year, less if I order with other people to reduce the shipping cost.
