I’ve been meaning to post mine for a while now, but don’t have any pics yet.
Over 20 years ago, a neighbor brought me a legless kettle he found on the side of the road. Everything was there except the legs and ash catcher.
I always had a driveway firepit going on weekends during the summer and neighbors would come by and hang out, drink some adult beverages and listen to music, and he thought this would be a perfect fire pit. He was right.
Plus my neighbor knew how much I love my 1998 Genesis 1000 (converted to a 2000) which is still nearly perfect.
This kettle was already pretty old when I got it, and it’s been burned to death hundreds of times, and has lived outside the entire time. The wood handles are finally starting to disintegrate, yet still functional, and the inside ash pan has just about rusted through. Other than that, she’s still fine.
Had I spent hundreds on an actual fire pit, I would have replaced it many times over in the decades since. Legendary.
I have a mid-2000’s kettle for charcoal grilling which is still perfect too! And a portable charcoal. lol.
