The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is in mourning after the recent death of a long-time 911 dispatcher.
Sharon Kay Lawhorn died on Wednesday, August 27, at the age of 75.
“Sharon dedicated several years of her life to serving our community at MCSD as a dispatcher,” the department stated on Facebook. “Her commitment and service have left a lasting impact on our county. We are deeply grateful for all she did.”
Besides being a dispatcher, the Jasper native loved gardening, watching Hallmark movies, and Soap Operas.
“She enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner,” her online obituary says. “She would do anything for anyone, and she was full of love. Sharon loved her family, especially her grandchildren.”
Her funeral is scheduled for Sunday, August 31 at the Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
