OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – This Labor Day weekend, most people celebrate it with barbecues and camping, but in Northwest Omaha people celebrate the weekend with La Festa Italiana.
“This is our 41st year,” La Festa Italiana Co-chairman Larry Pence said.
The event is hosted by the American Italian Heritage Society.
It brings all types of authentic Italian cuisine, live music, and other activities.
Pence said it’s all about keeping the culture alive.
“A lot of those Italian families have stayed here in Omaha and now it is children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of those original immigrants that stayed in the 1920s,” Pence said.
Pence said about 10,000 people have attended La Festa Italiana more than last year.
As the party continues to shine, he expects the event to grow for the years to come.
The event will go on from 11am to 11pm Sunday.
