Sipping a glass of crisp white wine at home, especially after a long workday, is a pleasure many of us can appreciate.

When you’re opening a bottle just for yourself, there’s an important balance to find between affordability and flavor — you don’t want to splurge on your weeknight wine, but you also want it to be enjoyable. Luckily, one grocery chain has won over white wine lovers with its impressive, accessible selection.

North Carolina-based content creator Sarah Zeiler (@sarahgzeiler) shares clips on Instagram and TikTok ranging from daily vlogs to makeup and fashion tips. But she also maintains an archive dedicated to posting wine reviews — specifically, wines that can be found at grocery stores.

As a Costco member, this mom of three always takes on the challenge of finding good white wine at the supermarket and often tries new options on camera to share her honest, live commentary.

For Zeiler, it’s tough to beat a French wine, and the creator is a big fan of Sancerre, a white wine made with Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the Loire Valley. The fresh, fruity, and crisp flavors of Sancerre make it tempting to reach for all the time, but limited supply and high demand often mean this wine is more expensive than many other Sauvignon Blancs — unless you grab Zeiler’s new favorite bottle from Costco.

Head to Costco for the Ronsard La Pleiade Sancerre

Earlier this summer, Zeiler revealed that she found an “amazing” bottle of Sancerre during a trip to Costco. “Look at what I found — a Sancerre at Costco,” she tells her followers in the video while displaying a bottle of Ronsard La Pleiade Sancerre.

Although the wine reviewer says that the bottle was priced under $15 when she purchased it, my nearest Costco charges $20.79 — but most locations of the bulk superstore list it online for about $18.

Either way, this same bottle typically sells for at least $29 at other retailers, making its price at Costco an excellent deal. One of Zeiler’s followers points out in the comments, “I can’t find a Sancerre for any less than $30! What a steal.”

What is Sancerre?

Sancerre is an appellation on the eastern tip of France’s Loire Valley, a wine region that stretches from the coast of the Atlantic to central France.

This wine region is known for its mineral-driven, citrusy Sauvignon Blancs.

Sauvignon Blanc is the only white grape permitted in the Sancerre appellation.

Due to limited supply and high demand, bottles of Sancerre tend to cost a little more than many other Sauvignon Blancs and usually fall in the range of $25–$50.

Produced by Domaine de Ronsard in the Upper Loire Valley, this Sancerre offers a crisp, citrusy flavor profile with notes of grapefruit and floral aromas.

Upon first sip, Zeiler was immediately impressed with the drink’s flavor, emphasizing that “It’s so good” and praising the wine for its light, dry profile and fruit-forward notes. “This is really nice — Costco, good job,” she notes.

For those who prefer a white wine that’s light, dry, and perfect for pairing with food, Sancerre is a great option. Because of the more acidic notes that several reviewers call out in this bottle from Costco, it could be a great option if you’re searching for something that tastes bright and energetic.

Zeiler points out that it used to be a challenge for her to find quality French wines like this one at the major retailer, and she’s impressed that “Costco has understood the assignment. Maybe they heard us, that we’d like more affordable French white wines.” We’ll keep our fingers crossed that’s true and take a trip ASAP to stock up on as many bottles as we can.
