I’m interested in buying a 2000 Smith Haut Lafite because it’s my birth year and I generally am a big fan of that winery.

The retailer that I’d buy it from has a good reputation for proper storage of vintage wines.

Do you think it will still be in good drinking condition?

Yes. If stored right this will be amazing. Such a great vintage.

Yes, it should be very good and in the perfect drinking window.

Italy usually is similar to France from a weather perspective, so in both good years and bad they are usually fairly consistent.

If cellared thats probably peaking. Great vintage.

I would just go on Winebid and see what is available. There are 350+ lots this week from 2000. Many of the Washington State wines should be excellent.

It will be transcendent. One of my favorite red (and white!) Bordeaux out there. And 25 years on it, should be fine. Just know that it’s not going to be as it was on day one. It’s taken 25 years to evolve into something different. Softer, more retrained fruit, showing more earth and secondary tones.

It is not going to be the spry young dark fruited powerful(ish) wine it once was. It’s now grown up, is more sophisticated and wise.

  7. Totally off point but the proprietaires name is Sarl ..? Is that a common name in France

  8. Absolutely will be a good one provided properly stored.

  9. Yes this will be fantastic, somehow a still underrated wine despite being £100+ per bottle. 2000 great year as well

I also got offered a 2000 chateau Le Crock.

Thoughts on that still being good?
