For reference…. The is a a Spirit 310. Purchased in November 2019 and it has lived it’s entire life outdoors year round in the Northeast USA with a Weber cover always on when not in use.
I tried to fire it up the other day and there was a regulator hose leak and the insides were toasted so I decided to buy a new grill. I bought a new Weber Spirit 425 (scored and open box special for $475) but when I got home I felt bad about abandoning the old girl so I decided to bring her back to life. Exterior steel and frame were still in great shape but the flavor bars and grate were rusted. The drip pan was literally full of rust. Pulled everything out and scraped it down the best i could. Scrubbed the hell out of it, got new flavor bars and pulled this replacement grate out of storage. I bought it on clearance at Lowe’s a few years ago and had it laying around waiting for this day.
Now I have 2 “new” grills!

They make stainless flavorizer bars. Bought some for my Genesis 2 and been using them since the original flavorizer bars died (similar to these). Been great, no problems for many years.

You definitely took those flavor bars as far as you could

Did the same thing to mine and also in the northeast. Had it for 10 years and first time I had to replace the burners and grates.

I just brought stainless steel grates to replace my cast iron ons an hour ago. Coming across this post felt serendipitous haha

I need to do this. My cast iron grates are ok, but the flavorizer bars are holey. For fans of the stainless grates, are there any downsides? I assumed they used cast iron because nothing retains heat better.

This is the reason i replaced my spirit with the genesis stainless model.
