I grabbed this book for 50p at a second-hand sale and it contains a number of fascinating “fad diet” recipes like this one. I was especially interested in learning about the so called “superfoods” of the day (brewers yeast, powdered milk, wheat germ, black treacle, and ‘fortified milk’, which was milk mixed with all the aforementioned ingredients)

I read the title and thought it was tonic *for* your liver, not full of liver.

Put 1 cup vegetable broth or any vegetable juice into an electric mixer and add 1 tablespoon fresh parsley and 1 slice onion. Mix until smooth. Now add 1 tablespoon very fresh raw liver and mix another half minute. Season with a bit of vegetable salt and drink at once. There will be no taste of liver, and the improvement brought about by taking one glass a day for two weeks will amaze you.
Not only liver, but heart, sweetbreads, kidney, and other glandular organs which are sometimes ordered by physicians, can be made palatable in this manner. Raw organ meats are becoming more and more popular because they are unusually rich in vitamins, hormones, and as yet undiscovered important substances.

Hell no. I’m not eating filter organs unless I’m starving. You know what they filter out? Stuff you don’t want to give a second chance.
You know what glands do? Make sure everything else in your body minds its own business. Don’t date the boss.
