LEWES – Beebe Medical Foundation received a $900 donation from Allen Harim Foods to support the Beebe Healthcare Food Prescription (Rx) Program. The funds will be used to purchase a new freezer. “

We are incredibly grateful to Allen Harim Foods for their generous donation, which will allow us to continue addressing the critical issue of food insecurity in our community,” Kim Blanch, director of Community Outreach at Beebe, said. “This kind of support makes it possible for us to improve the health of our community and put food in the hands of the people who need it the most.”

Beebe launched the Food Prescription (Rx) Program in 2016 in partnership with the Food Bank of Delaware, and with a goal to distribute monthly food boxes to patients living with chronic disease who face food insecurities. Over time, the program has evolved to include culinary, nutritional, and disease-specific education and self-management resources. It also connects underserved individuals with social services, primary care services, and specialty care services. Data shows that the program is leading to improved health outcomes, better self-monitoring and disease management, and a reduction in healthcare costs.

“We are proud to support Beebe Healthcare in its efforts to provide better access to nutritious food and essential resources for those in need,” Mike Little, CEO of Allen Harim Foods, said. “It’s vital that we come together as a community to help those who face challenges in accessing basic needs.”
