2019 Tignanello
Last had this nearly a year ago, at Mili in SF.
Still young, but another year has done it well.
Initially still tight, but opened up nicely with an hour of decanting.
The Cabernet really comes through and adds some nice structure.
Red cherry, blueberry, blackberry, dried herbs on the nose.
Nice acidity on the palate, but not overwhelming.
Drinks well on its own, but definitely would go well with some pasta.
92 points.
Bonus Barolo tasting, but no photo!
2014 Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Barolo Riserva
Shocked how good this is.
Drank from a bottle that had been Coravined five months ago, maybe a third gone from the top.
No VA or bret.
Tannins were rather mellow, acidity quite balanced.
Red cherry, blueberry, rosemary notes.
Long finish, this is brilliant, the taste really stays with you for a while.
I'm sure a new bottle will be tight, but this specific pour was actually amazing.
93 points.
