Checked out Sal’s tonight, a new Italian restaurant in Little Italy on College east of Grace.
The pastas looked enticing, but the chops section of the menu definitely had me the most engrossed. What stood out was how they had a bone-in veal chop served parm-style ($38). Definitely had to order this. Very lightly breaded, the veal was juicy and tender. There was a nice amount of tomato sauce and cheese that didn’t take away from the meat.
The contorno of garlicky and buttery green beans ($9) was a great accompaniment. For dessert had the Neapolitan ice cream “cake” ($10). It was just strawberry, chocolate and strawberry ice cream topped with whipped cream, cookie crumbs and a cherry. No actual cake. Next time I’ll get the tiramisu! And there will be a next time soon as I really enjoyed this new spot.
