Almond Roca is divine and apparently not hard to make. Thanks for sharing! I’d forgotten all about how much I love it.

I found a whole bunch more of these little cards! I showed them to my grandma and she said she believes they’re a little booklet that her mother saved from HER mother. More of my grandma’s grandma’s recipes! Or well, these ones were apparently the “winning recipes” that parents would bring into their school (as a competition I guess) and they had saved the winners on a typewriter. When she retired, since she was in charge of putting these together she took them with her!

    # Almond Roca

Cook 1 C. butter and 1 C. sugar and 1/2 C. chopped almonds, in a skillet until light brown.

Pour into jelly roll pan till cool. Cover with melted chocolate chips and grated almonds. Break in pieces.

Almond Roca is one of those things I won’t eat because once I start, I can’t stop.

My partner makes a version of this every Christmas, because all our friends ask — nay, *demand* it.

Do you have other recipes that you can share?

  7. I love almond roca but it’s not common in my area so I will definitely be trying this!

Who knew it was so simple to make? This would make lovely holiday gifts.

Someone just gave me a small and very expensive toffee candy. Who knew it was so simple?
