Since Smoking boards are expensive, especially for larger sizes of (40x20cm+)
Not forgetting they are at most 1.5cm thick.

I just thought why not make my own from OAK wood from a local Lumber-yard, .
Its completely untreated wood, that has been dried for a long time

All I had to do myself is to cut it to size and remove the bark, then sand down the rough edges a bit.

Yes I know I could have cut off the edges a bit better, but as its a smoking board, why waste 30+ minutes more time for a nice looking rounded edge, when it will be burnt up anyway. (I used a 42CM pizza stone as a size guide for the first board I made to size)

Size of the wood was roughly 50x25cm before cutting it smaller.
The thickness is about 3CM.

Pricewise its a amazing deal at roughly 6 euro per board (Total of 5 boards = 30 euro)
(As I got multiple, the price is cheaper than if I would have gotten just 1).
(NOTE: I am Not sure about other lumber-yards their prices, but I would suggest to check out a local one of you want to make one yourself)
As woodgrain isn't important for smoking boards, you could even get away with "UGLY/ less desirable" cuts. As long as its untreated and not moldy, it should be more than fine for a smoke board.
