During a trip through Italy last week, we stopped in Firenze. As our visit was during the morning and planned to leave short after lunch, it was a bit challenging to find a place to taste wines by the glass, as almost all of them tend to open in the afternoon.
But we found it, in "Il Mercato Centrale Firenze", a wine bar/sotre called "L'Enoteca Sandro Soltani Caffè Sant'Ambrogio". The place had a huge selection of wines by the glass, and not only that, even had some top wines in the Enomatic, which allowed us to taste 1/4 of glass. We tasted:

Il Pino di Biserno 2022
Sondraia 2016
Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2019
Tignanello 2021

The least good was Il Pino di Biserno, and in my opinion, Sondraia was the best, better than Tignalello. Probably the vintages had a lot to do, Sondraia was at its peak, while Tignanello, even being balanced, is probably still too young. Anyway I don't believe it justifyes the price gap between those two. Sondraia has incredible value.
I definetely recommend to visit this place if you are in Firenze and want to try wines by the glass! And prices were fair

Do you remember what you paid per glass?

Was this inside the Mercato? The Mercato is now a sad tourist trap with the exception of the basement, but I’m happy you found this. There’s a great wine store and shop nearby behind the stalls on the street.
