Let’s make baklava. Start with 1 cup sugar, 2 tbsps lemon juice, 1/2 cup of honey, and 3/4 cup of water. Stir this over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Then boil this for about 5 minutes. I’m going to finish the syrup by adding in a little rose water and a touch of orange blossom water. For our nut layers, I’ll do a mixture of pistachio, walnuts, and my secret ingredient, pine nuts. I’ll take my melted butter and begin layering my filo dough. After eight layers, I’ll add my first layer of nuts, followed by a nice little sprinkle of cinnamon. And after repeating this process several times, I’ll do eight layers on top to finish. Cut it before it goes into the oven. Bake this at 350 for 50 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Look at how incredibly beautiful this looks. To finish it, I’ll paint it with our honey glaze. [Music] Okay, that’s insane.
