A Wonderful Harvesting Day In My Container Vegetable Garden

This was July 21ST, and it was a wonderful harvesting day in my container vegetable garden.

I harvested beets, blueberries, callaloo, carrots, lettuce and tomatoes.

The squash vine borers took two of my plants down.

Hallelujah. [Music] He hasn’t gone. It’s not that big yet. But my man right here, this I’m going to take down. I should leave this for seeds though. just so big. I left my basket on the inside cuz I did not plan on doing all this today. But mosquitoes, mosquitoes. I did not spray either cuz I was not going to do all this today. So, I think I have two radishes in here. I mean radishes, two beets in here. So, I find the other one. Oh, this one don’t feel like it’s big cuz this uh cut um the potatoes took over the thing finally cuz I didn’t think they were going to make it the potatoes cuz it was so scrawny. A bunch of them died. Okay, sorry. A bunch of them died. So, I didn’t think we’re going to have potatoes. Oops. Kaloo came up too. Yeah, I need to get the beads out. cuz sun didn’t form. It’s only Oh, tiny little thing at the bottom. Leave that for now. There’s another one in here. There’s another one in here that um Yeah, it’s not for me either. So, I’m going to leave those for now. Got to work on this. What’s this right here? I tell you, I don’t get it. Nope, that’s the another one in there. Okay. And look here. Cucumbers. This is the fourth one from this plant. My sister took a few when she came by to visit. when she was helping me the last time with the kaloo, she took a few. And then this is I think my mom got a few too. And that’s me, right? That’s my first one for me. It’s okay enough to share. And now look at all this stuff. It’s a lot. Keep tapping the phone shaking mosquito my hand. The beet is not doing that great in here. I’m not surprised cuz this one was was crowded. Didn’t have a lot of sun like the other container before the potatoes filled in. I don’t think I put any beads in here. I think I only put potatoes in here. So, we leave that alone. and and some tiny little turnips in here. But I’m looking for the Yeah, the beet is not ready to be harvested in this one. Doubt if it will be Oh no. Do my blueberries last cuz I’m going to snack on there my way in the house. And I hear the ice cream man. So I guess we going to be getting ice cream today. So we put these two little blueberries. Hope I remember to get them when we’re leaving. Yeah, I’m not going to harvest blueberry till later. I saw some tomatoes. Yeah, I wanted to harvest the tomatoes today. I’m harvesting. And what gets me is that um these the one these are the ones I ordered online. What gets me is that make sure that’s okay over there. I need to put something here. Something was digging. Something was digging in there. So anyway, look what I did. I made a mistake. All them beans. All those beans. I have to get to. So, I’m going to take this down. It’s too high anyway. I just hope it’s not tangled onto the other beans on this side. I’mma put it here. Just low down. Might even put it over there in one of the on the space over here since all this is cleared out. I might put it over here so I can get to it. I don’t know. It might be tangled into this bean here. I had to That’s bush right there. That’s weed or runners that dried up. That’s bush. Weed I should say run. It runs all over the top of stuff. So when I cleaned this out over here, I took I took the whole thing down. So that’s just stuck. And fortunately, it’s wrapped up in my beans. So I had to stop because I didn’t want to destroy my beans. But this is a different bean from the other one. I think it’s different. It’s different. But we’ll find out tomorrow. Not today. I have too much stuff to do today. I’m going harvest today. Those beans need to be harvested. But yeah, those beans need to be harvested, too. But I’ll get to that tomorrow. I think this is still on Zoom. So, let me see. Yep. So, I’m just going to get these guys. And again, I left my harvesting basket inside, but that’s okay. Chris is not allowed in the cucumbers. Look at Look. Oh, I did not see that guy back there. Look at that. And I think these are the Oh, I hope did I label this? I hope I label this. I need to see which cucumber these are. These are the tiny ones. You see those? Those are the tiny ones. Yes. I was trying to find where I got the seeds from. There’s a label here. Look at it when I come back. Anyway, mosquitoes. I don’t have a lot of harvest yet. It just started. So, we just started harvesting, which is nice. And this is we’re in July. So, I need to show I didn’t think insect could bother basil. I have one of my basil. Something is eating the leaves on the basil. I’m surprised. I didn’t think they would do that. I thought basil was protection, but I guess not. Everybody got their their vices or whatever. Okay, so that’s it. And let me keep on going. I have other things I need to harvest and blueberries last. Check these tomatoes out. Aren’t they a beauty? Look at that. a lot of them, too. And I need to do better with the fencing. Need to do a lot of better things. But that’s that for now. That’s a tiny little harvest. Plus the color loose mosquitoes. Anyway, that’s just the start of the season. I mean, those going to be my first other than the cucumbers my sister took. Oh, the sun is nice and bright. It’s going to be the first I say vegetable harvest minus the color. I’ve been harvesting kaloo for the past month. So, that’s good. Happy with my beets. These that grew from seeds. And there was another one that fell off was a baby. Yeah. Yeah. The ice cream screaming. There’s another bead there, but I think I’m going to leave for another day or two. But there’s more. Oh, good. I’mma leave those for now cuz I have this one with the others. I’m not trying to get them all in one day because my sister went to the farmers market and she got beets. Got me a whole bunch of beets. So, I don’t need all these extra beets. I have to pickle those first. I’m going to pickle those and do those for the winter. Store those for the winter. So, let’s go back. I broke it off. Look at that. They’re all crooked. So I guess when I transplanted them, these I transplanted. I didn’t start these from seeds. I got rephrase that. These are started from seeds, but I transplant them when they got bigger into the container because a lot of times when I do them Yeah. So, guess when I transplanted them, it wasn’t I didn’t do a good job of transplanting because they all got messed up. and pull all these because pork the piece off of this. Yeah, all these are transplanted into this. So, I don’t know. Next year, I guess I take my chance again and just grow and just put the seed directly into the container. For some reason, I have issues when I put the seed in the container. I don’t have great success. I seal this up so Oops. I’mma seal this up so nothing doesn’t play in it until I get a chance to put some I’m going to put some winter radishes in here. Next couple of days I’m put radishes in there that need to be sprayed. Okay, my neem oil is in the front. So, I get my nemo can spray this strawberry right there that needs to be sprayed. So, got these carrots up here. See the garage? Put this cats up here now. work on these next. A whole lot of stuff to do I’m doing right now. I think I’m going to go and get the rest of carrots. I got more carrots away. I think I’m going to get all the carrot I think. Oh, that was all the carrots. That’s good. Get them out the way. I don’t know what I was aiming at. So, that’s all the carrots. I’m done. So, I put some radishes in here for the fall. I’m going to cut some of these big guys. This going to seed, but I think I’m going to leave this for now cuz the seed is it hasn’t gone. It’s not that big yet. But my man right here, this I’m going to take down. I should leave this for seeds though. just so big. I have to take all the sides off though. Yeah. Okay. I guess I’ll leave this one for seeds instead of the others. But still have to take the rest of these guys down though. Yep. And it’s tender enough that I can still break it off with I dropped my phone. Reaching so high. I dropped the phone. So, let me get my cutter. cut these down and I get back to you. I think the squash van bores got Yeah. Oh, look here. I just I would say I’m think that’s done. Oh, man. And I was hoping, you know, this would make it because I have a pumpkin over there in that corner. Can you see? It’s hidden behind right there. I have a pumpkin back there and I saw these starting to shrivel up and I’m like I hope it’s not that one. But I have two vines. See one here, the other one. I was same thing on the other one. Well, maybe I’m Yeah, I’ll just leave it back there and see if it does anything. Wow. I was getting ready to cut the um the you know the yellow leaves off and take these down, but it’s the whole tree going to have to go. Trying to see what this goes to. Yeah, this one is not. Look, it just came off in my hands. We’re going to take this out. And I don’t want to inspect it to see if that. I’m not going to inspect that. I’m just going to cut these and take these out. I was hoping this one would make it back in, but I guess not. I was hoping with the garlic in there he would have prevent them, but turned them off, but I guess not either. This guy went to seed so much that I’m just going to take off the whole thing. Start in the middle. Take the whole thing off. Add it to my color collection. Now, this guy has seed also. Take that off. This one is seed, too. Take it off. busted leaf. Yep. I can l couple days. This is good. Nothing. Oh, these are babies. They’re going to get seeds. So, how this guy under here? Yeah, this guy is good. Is it like the ones at the bottom without not getting a lot of sun, they do no seeds. Look at this. Of course, the leaf got to come. Nice big leaf. Oops. That one’s coming too. And that’s it for this one. I’m leave this one for another week if it lasts that long. If not by the weekend, I’m going to have to cut it. And look on the size of the container. Look at the size of the container. Look inside this thing. Yes. So, more to add to my collection. To my collection. My collection. This is just one group. And you know, she saved seeds from a plant. She um peppers she likes or she saved seeds from vegetables she likes. I’m not sure what this is. I’m going to take one down though. Just one. Leave the other one. There’s more in the tree, but I don’t know if this tree can handle those. So, tomorrow I’m going to tie it up. I have a steak, but I did not tie it to the steak. I’mma tie it to the steak tomorrow. I’m going to get harvest these raspberry stew. I just finished spraying some bugs with nee oil. So, I got nee oil in my hands, but it’s not supposed to be bad, right? So, you can eat it cuz I’m just going to rinse these off real quick and snack them down. It’s like a quick snack. I took a I know it’s winding. I thought it was winding down, but there’s more cuz I’ve been taking a lot inside. So, everybody can get some. Yeah, I hear the bird. He’s talking about the ras blueberry. That’s the one that comes every year. And not the chirping. Those guys live nearby. I know what kind of bird those are. They’re tiny ones. They um Oops. I think my hand is full. So, if I do that, I’m going to try not to drop, but I don’t drop any. I can make two trips. There’s one all the way over there. So, I get this guy. I know. One more here. Okay. I guess I can share with my little bird friend if she finds what I didn’t see. You can have it. I just want the dark ones. They are sweet. I’m going rinse this off and enjoy this. And I’m just looking for stuff to harvest since I have a lot of visitors in my garden. I’m not talking about humans. And they just snacking a little stuff. So, I’m trying to beat them to it.
