Breakfast is so easy for me now that I've gotten the hang of my microwave poacher. The eggs take less than 2 minutes (I recommend letting them sit in the poacher to make sure it finishes cooking – 1 min in the microwave and another minute in the poacher). I used to hard boil a few eggs at a time so I could eat them over the next few days but something about a freshly poached egg just feels luxurious.

If you're like me and you eat eggs regularly, I highly recommend getting one!

do it get that weird “microwaved” taste tho

I have one, it’s great! Cooking eggs in the microwave in a slept-on hack.

Sometimes I just use a bowl to make microwave omelets, too. It’s easy if I just pre chop my favorite veggies for the week and throw them in.

I have one – it’s a great way to cook liquid egg whites, too!

You can actually poach an egg in a mug of water in the microwave, no special cookware needed. Fill a mug with about 8 oz. of water, crack an egg in and microwave for just over a minute (time varies depending on your wattage) and use a slotted spoon to serve it.

    Edited for clarity on directions

Do you have issues having your eggs cook consistently? I always feel like I have spots where it’s really undercooked and others where it’s overcooked. In fairness I haven’t tried resting so maybe that’s the trick?

I saw a TikTok recently that recommended an egg and a blob of mayonnaise whisked and microwaved for 40 seconds.

I was shocked by how good it is.

(This is not good for weight loss.)

It’s not a great idea to eat food that was cooked in plastic in the microwave….

I dont like poached/runny eggs, do you think this would work for scrambling if I mix it up first?

Does it change the texture? I assumed it would become rubbery.

I have something like this but its a little red cup thingy with a lid. You break the yolk and add whatever you want into it and it makes a perfect circle the same size as an English muffin.

Now I wish I had English muffins cause that sounds so good lol

i’m sorry. but microwave eggs taste absolutely dreadful. i will die on this hill and people who are okay with it must have dead tastebuds.

there’s no texture or browning and they have this extra sulfurous taste

Call me old fashioned, but I’m still uncomfortable microwaving anything plastic. Do they make a ceramic or glass version?
