What does a helicopter, a grocery list, and a cart full of food have in common?

LifeNet hosted a community food drive on Saturday.

They were asking for non-perishable items for the Open Door Mission, and shoppers at the Hy-Vee near 156th Street and West Maple Road helped clear their grocery list and fill the donation cart.

For those donating, it was a chance to make a difference and to explore a real helicopter.

“We love getting out here, meeting new people, new faces, and just being able to, support the community and interact and, kind of show a little bit about what we do as well,” said Andrea Syrstad.

In 2024 LifeNet’s food drive brought in more than 2,500 pounds of food.
